			<description><![CDATA[<p>Boris Johnson has burst on to the General Election campaign stage declaring that Theresa May will &quot;pull it off&quot; in Brexit negotiations. </p><p>After claims that some Cabinet ministers want the Prime Minister to sideline him, the Foreign Secretary has made a powerful speech praising her leadership. </p><p>In his first major intervention in the campaign, at the Lord Mayor&#039;s Banquet in the City of London, Mr Johnson strongly endorsed Mrs May&#039;s Brexit strategy. </p><p>He also praised the Prime Minister&#039;s leadership in the war on terror and attacked Jeremy Corbyn&#039;s stance on nuclear weapons, tackling terrorists and airstrikes in Syria. </p><p>Writing in the Sun, Mr Johnson urges voters not to feel sorry for &quot;mutton-headed old mugwump&quot; Mr Corbyn and claims he poses an extreme danger to the country. </p><p>In the most savage Tory assault yet on the 67-year-old Opposition Leader, he suggests voters may see Mr Corbyn&#039;s &quot;meandering and nonsensical&quot; performances and be tempted to feel &quot;a terrible twinge of human compassion&quot;. </p><p>But he says the Labour leader&#039;s long record as a peace campaigner and his anti-military stances actually mean &quot;the consequences would be calamitous&quot; if he ever became Prime Minister. </p><p>&quot;Have you ever thought the Leader of the Opposition is an essentially benign Islingtonian herbivore?&quot; the Foreign Secretary writes. &quot;Have you felt a pang of sympathy for his plight?
